August Fullness

It is my evening off and I am getting ready to go to Park City, Utah on Saturday. I am going to study with John Friend, the founder of Anusara Yoga. I have been a dedicated student of the Anusara method since my first class four years ago and this will be my first time meeting the man who is behind the vision, the man who is the teacher of my teachers. Needless to say I am excited. Excited not only about a chance to meet and learn from John Friend in person, but also thrilled about just getting on a plane (I love travelling!), and going somewhere new, and getting a week off in August. August is the busiest month in Tofino and in the past I would often work every single day of the month, so to get an entire week off to go study yoga and enjoy some summer downtime is a dream come true.

The first half of August has been really busy in the most delightful ways. Lots of beach yoga classes for visitors to Tofino. Lots of fun yoga classes at the yoga studio. And some super fun workshops as well. On the 11th we had an Acro Yoga workshop at Coastal Bliss with Emelia Symington Fedy and Justin Bench, both Certified Acro Yoga Teachers. This was my first Acro-Yoga experience and I loved it. The first thing Justin said to me when he walked in the door was “do you want to fly?” and two minutes later I was hanging upside down balanced on his feet and hands being treated to the most delicious therapeutic Acro Yoga session. I cannot stretch myself like that and I am a professional stretcher! It is so good and I highly recommend you check it out if there  is a workshop in your area.  Here are some photos from the afternoon at the studio.

A few days later I taught an Anusara Inspired Workshop with the theme of Celebrating Community. A small group of very dedicated yogis got together on a Saturday afternoon to work hard, have fun, and support each other. We had a great time playing together, there were some amazing break throughs, and we finished it all off with a sweet tea party featuring raw chocolate, raw chocolate macaroons, ginger spelt cookies, and iced tea. I didn’t get my camera out until the end but here are a few pictures from the event.

I will be bringing my computer to Park City so I will try to do a blog post if possible…but it might be a while before I can put into words what I will be experiencing, so no promises. The sun is setting here at the beach and it’s time for me to get outside now.

Hope your next week of August is fabulous.
